GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS ARRIVALS

1.       School begins at 7:18 a.m.  Students are not to be on campus before 7:00 a.m.

2.       Parents who bring their children to school must use the side drive near the parking lot for arrival and dismissal.  All parents are required to be in the pickup line and remain in their vehicle to expedite the flow of traffic.  Only buses are allowed in the front drive between 6:50 and 7:20 a.m. and 2:00 and 2:40 p.m.

3.       Upon arriving at school, all 7th and 8th grade students will go to the north side of the gym.  6th grade students will go to the south side of the gym.

4.       Students are to eat breakfast immediately upon their arrival at school.

Car riders must be here by 7:10 in order to eat breakfast

horizontal rule

DISMISSAL

1.       First load dismisses at 2:33 p.m.  STUDENTS REPORT DIRECTLY TO THE BUSES.  Second load dismisses as soon as the buses arrive from the High School.  Students who ride bikes or walk cannot leave the school grounds until all buses have left the school.

2.       Children will not be allowed to leave the school during the day except with a parent or guardian or someone authorized by a parent or guardian.  If a parent must check their child out early, the parent must go through the front office.  Parents may not go to the classroom to get their children.

3.       When children are dismissed they are to go directly home or to a destination agreed upon by the parents and they are not to return to school that day.

4.       If a child is to go home with another student, he or she must have a signed note from their parent or guardian with a phone number for verification.  Students MAY NOT ride another bus to go home with a friend.

5.       For an emergency dismissal we will follow these procedures:

A.       The Parish Superintendent will notify the school to dismiss.

B.       Bus drivers will be called to come pick up their students.

C.      We will then follow the regular dismissal procedure.

Parents should have an emergency plan so that your child will know what to do and where to go in case school dismisses early.  During inclement weather, we sometimes have to dismiss early because of the loss of electricity.  Without electricity, our telephone system does not work.

LUNCHROOM

Lunches are $1.15 a day full price or $0.40 a day at reduced price.  Breakfast is $0.60 a day full price and $0.30 a day at reduced price.

Additional entrees may be offered for sale with a purchased meal.  Other items may also be offered for extra sales, such as cookies, rolls, fries, punch, ice cream, pickles, bottled water, etc.  Items offered for sale each day will be posted with prices.  Students must make all selections in the lunch line.  They may not come back to the serving area once they are seated.

There will be NO CHARGING.  Charging is not something we want to teach children.  NO CHANGE WILL BE GIVEN IN THE LUNCH LINE.  We strongly encourage parents to pay in advance by the month or by the week.  The manager will take up advance payments in the lunchroom before school.  If a student chooses to pay cash in the lunch line, any “change” will be deposited in the students’ account for future purchases.  The manager will let the student know when his/her account is getting low.  The “no change” policy is necessary to keep the line moving, allowing your child more time to eat.

While students are in the cafeteria, the following rules are to be obeyed:

a.       There is to be no breaking in line.  Those students doing so will be sent to the end of the line and served last.
